What should I consider when choosing a primary care provider?
Choosing a doctor who understands your concerns, your schedule and your health priorities is important. Your primary care provider is more than just a doctor to call when you’re sick. He or she can become a lifelong partner in your health and wellness.
Our online Find Providers tool can help you search for physicians by location, specialty, background and profile. With a range of subspecialties offered, you can find a primary care provider who meets your needs.

What's the difference between primary care, urgent care, and emergency care? When should I choose one instead of the other?
Primary care is comprehensive care for you and your entire family. It includes routine wellness visits, preventive care, health screenings, treatment for chronic illnesses and more. Your primary care physician provides your primary care.
Urgent care is for non-life-threatening illness or injuries. Urgent care offers short wait times so you can be in and out as quickly as possible. A team of highly skilled providers at each IU Health Urgent Care location provides your urgent care.
Emergency care is for serious, complex or life-threatening medical emergencies. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or find the nearest emergency room. To better understand which care option is best for you and your loved ones, view our symptom guide.
