Antibiotics and Anti-Infectives
When you have an infection that can’t be treated with oral medication, you may need to receive your medication as a shot or an infusion.
IU Health can deliver these medications to your home and home care nurses will teach you how to take these medications so that you can go home from the hospital as soon as possible, and stay at home. Our team of professionals will work with you and your doctor to make sure your infection is responding the way your doctor expects. Learn more about our home infusion services.
Anti-emetic Medications and Hydration
If you have nausea from chemotherapy, radiation, anesthesia, a gastrointestinal condition or pregnancy, you might benefit from anti-emetic medication. If you cannot take oral medication, it can be given by injection or infusion, and our nurses will teach you how to administer. Nausea and vomiting can cause dehydration. You also may benefit from hydration therapy at home. Learn more about our home infusion services.
Specialty Injectable Medications
IU Health provides injectable and infusion medications for a variety of conditions. Medication and supplies can be delivered to your home, and our pharmacy can prepare individualized doses if needed. Learn more about our home infusion services.
IV Immune Globulin (IVIG) and Subcutaneous Immune Globulin
An IU Health home care nurse will give you intravenous immune globulin (IVIG) if you have an autoimmune disorder requiring that medication. Some patients are candidates for subcutaneous administration of immune globulins, and can learn to administer the medication themselves. Learn more about our home infusion services.
Pain Management
Sometimes you need help managing your pain at home to be comfortable. IU Health home care can provide some types of pain medication along with supplies and equipment required. Our lightweight infusion pumps can be preprogrammed to provide the dosing ordered by your doctor. Learn more about our home infusion services.
Enteral Nutrition Therapy
When you need to have your nutrition from a feeding tube, IU Health home care delivers the supplies and formulas you need. Our home care staff show you and your family how to use and take care of the feeding tube. They’ll also monitor you to make sure you’re getting the nutrition you need.
